Harry Bertoia : Pair of 420c Side Chairs [USA]

This is a pair of classic Bertoia side chairs, model 420, originally designed in 1952 by Harry Bertoia for Knoll International. 

With assistance from Celia Bertoia at the Bertoia Foundation - these particular examples are likely from an early production:

"Hello Erwin,

Thanks for your inquiry regarding your chairs. From what you have described I believe they are valid Bertoia for Knoll chairs. Each European country had their own license in the beginning years and each had slightly different details, especially the connectors.

The Knoll stamp did not start until the 2000s. The waterfall edge did not get into production until 1986. So chances are very high that you have two early Bertoia chairs!
